Get tempted by the culinary traditions of the Ligurian Riviera, in a intense and tasty journey that will take you to love the table of our land, the meeting point between sea and mountains, whose absolute protagonists since antiquity have been the divine Athena, mother of the extra virgin olive oil, and Dionysus, god of wine, capable of creating the most genuine Mediterranean Diet.
Going in search of the gold of the Ponente, you will discover a Liguria that is shy and apparate, made up of cultivations and vineyards that have been tenaciously wrested from the Maritime Alps, of wildlands arched villages and small fringes, of tight carruggi and late campanili, of high mountains and deep valleys plunging into the most blue marine.

The pasta homemade, the pesto, the filled vegetables and the focacce have long since crossed the borders of our land, but you will be able to rediscover their taste in the most authentic way by accompanying them with our oil olive oil and the doc wines of the Riviera dei Fiori. Rossese, Ormeasco, Vermentino, Pigato: Wines of great tradition, which have always been produced in limited quantities, intense in scent and taste, they are the right emblem of a bright land of colours nitid and vivid.

Land of traditions genuine, aromas, tastes: the Riviera di Ponente opens its doors to you to take you on one of the most beautiful journeys to discover all that is most authentic. Let us take you on this “gourmande” escape from the surprises without end.

EXPERIENTIAL PACKAGE
“ATHENA AND DIONYSUS: FOOD AND WINE TOUR IN LIGURIA”
(4 days – 3 nights)

DAY 1

Arrival in the late afternoon in Sanremo and check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: Extra Virgin Olive Oil – The Gold of the Ponente

Today you will discover how olive cultivation has shaped the life and economy of our land for over two centuries.

After breakfast, transfer to Imperia to visit the Olive Tree Museum. Named European Museum of the Year in 1993 under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the museum is located in the heart of Oneglia, a port town with a centuries-old olive oil tradition. This unique site tells the story and symbolism of the oldest cultivated tree in human history. You’ll explore 6,000 years of Mediterranean civilizations through reconstructed environments such as dry-stone walls, an ancient olive press, and the cargo hold of a Roman oil ship. After the historical immersion, you can also visit the modern production facility and shop at the renovated Emporio.

Lunch on your own.

In the afternoon, visit a local olive oil company founded in 1910. You will witness the various stages of extra virgin olive oil production. The company’s philosophy is to present a clear image of “cold-pressed” high-quality olive oil. This very oil was served at the official Nobel Prize Gala Dinner in Stockholm in 1990 and at the Grand Jubilee in 1991.

Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 3: Rossese di Dolceacqua – The Nectar of the Riviera

The Riviera, a land of sea and mountains, is also home to exquisite wines produced in limited quantities on terraced slopes carved into the Alpine valleys.

In the morning, travel to Dolceacqua, the jewel of the Nervia Valley: a charming medieval village adorned with a humpback bridge and the ruins of the Doria castle. Among artisan shops, you will discover the nectar of the Riviera: Rossese di Dolceacqua, an intense red wine and the first Ligurian wine to receive a designation of origin.

At lunchtime, visit a typical Rossese winery where you’ll taste the full range of Riviera wines, paired with delicious local specialties.

In the afternoon, visit the medieval village of Apricale, nestled on the Alpine slopes, where you’ll savor the most traditional Ligurian snack: zabaione with pansarole – sweet fritters dusted with powdered sugar.

Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

DAY 4: The Taggiasca Olive – The Black Pearl of Liguria

We invite you to visit the “realm” of the Taggiasca olive: the Argentina Valley is ready to reveal the flavor and color of Liguria’s gold.

After breakfast, transfer to Badalucco, a village with a strong olive oil tradition. You’ll visit a traditional family-run olive mill with a small but fascinating museum showcasing the valley’s deep connection to ancient farming traditions. At the end of the visit, you can stop by the small shop to buy extra virgin olive oil and other typical Riviera products directly from the producer. Lunch on your own.

Continue to the historic center of Taggia and visit the San Domenico convent complex. Founded in 1459 by the Dominican friar Cristoforo da Milano, the convent houses valuable artworks by Ludovico, Antonio and Francesco Brea, Giovanni Canavesio, and Emanuele Maccari, also known as “Il Macario”.

At the end of the visit, departure for your home destination.
