In the morning, visit to the Olive Museum (closed on Sundays) of the Fratelli Carli company in Imperia. Awarded European Museum of the Year in 1993 under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the museum is located in the heart of Oneglia, a centuries-old olive oil port. It is a unique work in terms of originality and content, bearing witness to the symbolic and cultural value of the oldest tree cultivated by man. Spanning six thousand years of Mediterranean civilization history, the museum halls recreate traditional environments linked to oil production: dry stone walls used to terrace the slopes of the Maritime Alps, an ancient oil mill, and the hold of a Roman oil ship. After this journey through history, you can also visit the modern Fratelli Carli factory and enjoy shopping in the adjacent store.
Lunch in a typical local restaurant to taste some Ligurian specialties.
In the afternoon, visit to the Raineri factory, founded in 1910, where you will witness the various stages of extra virgin olive oil production. The company’s philosophy is to offer consumers a clear image of the High Quality of a “cold-pressed” extra virgin olive oil. Raineri extra virgin olive oil was included in the official gala dinner menu in Stockholm for the awarding of the “Nobel Prizes” in 1990 and the “Grand Jubilee” in 1991.
