Founded in 1950 with materials recovered during thirteen underwater archaeological excavation campaigns from the wreck of a Roman ship sunk in the Albenga roadstead. This wreck is the most famous among all those discovered so far in the western Mediterranean and belonged to the largest known cargo ship, capable of carrying over ten thousand amphorae.<\/li>\n<p>    <\/p>\n<li>After sailing through the seas of classical antiquity, in the afternoon we will take you to discover the history of Liguria\u2019s naval heritage with a visit to the International Naval Museum of Imperia. This is a relatively young institution: founded only in 1980, in just a few years it has gained worldwide attention for the speed and effectiveness of its ongoing development, the methodical nature of its research, and the expert enhancement of its artifacts.<\/li>\n<p>
