In the morning, transfer to Triora, the village of 23 mills and… witches! This is not legend, but documented history, as shown in the museum dedicated to them.<\/p>\n

A fief of the Counts of Ventimiglia and later an impregnable fortress of the Republic of Genoa, Triora has ancient origins tied to early battles between opposing factions. The village retains its Medieval appearance, with remarkable examples of rustic architecture and slate-carved portals.<\/p>\n

The remains of its ancient heritage are now a popular destination for international tourists and among the most celebrated sites in Western Liguria.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Of particular interest is the visit to the Ethnographic and Witchcraft Museum, where you can explore four eerie rooms that recount a tragic chapter of local history. In 1558, a trial was held against a group of thirteen women accused of causing the famine that had plagued the region the previous year. The ethnographic section of the museum, on the other hand, showcases tools used by farmers, mule drivers, carpenters, and bakers, offering a glimpse into the area’s everyday life.<\/p>\n

Lunch in a traditional restaurant, where you can savor some typical local dishes.<\/p>\n

On the return journey, stop in Molini di Triora to visit a workshop specialized in working with slate\u2014a thousand-year-old stone known as the \u201cblack gold of the Argentina Valley.\u201d Next to the workshop, you\u2019ll also be able to visit a craftsman’s shop displaying various items carved by a local artist.<\/p>\n

Then continue on to Taggia, a land of olive oil tradition, to visit the Taggiasca Olive Oil House, a young company producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil. The facility covers 200 square meters and includes departments for packaging and storage. At the end of the visit, you\u2019ll have the opportunity to explore the elegant showroom, where you can taste the extra virgin olive oil and other typical products from our Riviera.<\/p>\n

Finally, visit the historic center and the San Domenico convent complex. The convent was founded in 1459 by Dominican father Cristoforo da Milano and houses valuable works by Ludovico, Antonio, and Francesco Brea, Giovanni Canavesio, and Emanuele Maccari, known as “il Macario.”<\/p>\n
