Sanremo
In the morning, visit to the charming historic center of Sanremo: La Pigna. Dear to Italo Calvino, who described it in “The Path to the Nest of Spiders”, La Pigna still retains the charm of an ancient medieval village and allows the more attentive visitor to discover an unexpected Sanremo, made up of winding alleys and stairways, arches and buttresses, secluded and quiet little squares. At the top stands the Sanctuary of Madonna della Costa, protector of sailors, built right at the summit of the old town, overlooking a spectacular panorama.
Lunch in a wine bar in the historic center, where you can taste two authentic queens of Sanremo cuisine: sardenaira, an ancient ancestor of pizza, and farinata.
Afternoon at leisure for shopping and for visiting the modern part of the city, or its beautiful gardens.
